Love Sparkles - Sneak Peek

Customer thank you cards

This was one of the stamp sets that all On Stage attendees received in Ottawa this past weekend. You can never go wrong with sentiment sets as you can use them on almost all your cards. I went stamp crazy with the "thank you" stamp. The above card was made using the Emboss Resist technique and whisper white embossing powder.

I used daubers to sponge on the colours (from top to bottom): Watermelon Wonder, Peekaboo Peach, Crushed Curry, Pear Pizzazz and Bermuda Bay.

2016 CentreStage & OnStage Ottawa

This is the bag that all attendees received which was the perfect size for all the freebies we got
This past weekend I flew to Ottawa with one of my downlines to attend my second Centre Stage and On Stage event. Stampin' Up! likes to spoil their Silver Elite and above demos with a special dinner, training session and goodie bag at an event called Centre Stage. I was humbled that I was able to earn this. I believe that only 227 demos from Canada qualified so that is a great accomplishment but I could not have made it this far without my wonderful team so for that I thank all the girls in my downline.
Write down those 6 month goals
At the OnStage event the next day I got to walk across the stage twice. Once for earning 100K plus flex points and I think the other was for either sales or leadership. I am slowly getting there. That incentive trip will happen one day. I truly believe that. Every year I am getting closer and closer to that trip.
All the ribbons I earned this year
I was so happy that I got to share this experience with my friend and downline Ruth. We both made 30 cards to swap and got back some great swaps. I also found out later that day that I was sitting next to Cathy Caines a SU Artisan - how awesome is that? OnStage is such a great experience and opportunity to meet other demos and to learn business strategies to grow our business. I still have so much to learn but I'm also excited to share what I've learnt with my wonderful downlines.

Stampin' Up! CFO Scott Nielson - I hope he'll remember my name because someday I will be on the incentive trip with him.

When I got back from Ottawa I was excited to challenged my downline of 10 to make it a goal to attend OnStage in April 2017 with me. It will be in Toronto so we won't have very far to go. We will have so much fun. We truly are better together. When you love what you do, it's easy to share that love and to inspire others to be creative.

Shake & Celebrate Shaker Card

I made these 2 cards using the Shake & Celebrate (142059) photopolymer stamp set and matching Shaker Shapes framelits (141834). It is also available in a bundle 143502 for a discounted price of $54.75.

Greetings from Santa & Detailed Santa Card

This card was cased from the Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog 2016-2017. Card base is Real Red and sentiment is stamped with Old Olive. I used some wooden stars which I had left over from a Paper Pumpkin kit. This was a super quick card to make but you would never know it as it looks so delicate. Bundle item #143524 for $52.

Stampin' Up! Star of Light Starlight Bundle

Here is one of the cards I cased for my September 25th class which as I write this post is FULL. How awesome is that?

This is one of my favorite cards. I cased this card from the cover of the Holiday Catalog but I used Dapper Denim on my card base and I embossed the background with Whisper White. I love this Star of Light and Starlight bundle. Did you know that one of the dies comes with the star pre-scored? It makes it much easier for you to create the 3D star. The acetate sheets were the perfect accent for this card and the mini gold stars are popped up with dimensionals. I should mention that I had to double layer the dots on the back of the big star.  The stamps in this set is photopolymer which makes it easy for placement and stamping. You can order this bundle from me: item #143508 for $63.75

With every new catalog that comes out I like offering my customers the opportunity to join a paper or ribbon share. You get 64 sheets of 6x6 DSP and 40 sheets of 3x6 DS stack from 13 different packages of paper. How amazing is that? If you were to order all that on your own it would cost you $240.

I offer local pick up in downtown Toronto (York/Adelaide), Scarborough (Lawrence/Kennedy), Mississauga (Dundas/Winston Churchill) and Oakville (Dundas/6th Line).

Handbag Tutorial

I promised one of my downlines who came to my class this past weekend that I would post all the dimensions and instructions to make this cute DSP handbag which is the perfect size for holding standard sized cards (horizontally). What a great gift for a hostess or teacher.

I used a piece of 5x8 Basic Black cardstock for the base of this purse. Score the base 1" on all sides and then you will need to snip each corner once and make it into a box.  See photos below.

Next, you will need a sheet of DSP cut 12x4.5 and 7.5x4.5. You will be attaching these to pieces together to make one long piece which you will then wrap around the base of the "box". Do not overlap it by more then 1/2".

For the trim on the top and inside top of the handbag, you will need 2 pieces of 3/4x11 and 3/4x8.5. You will glue one 3/4x11 and one 3/4x8.5 piece together end by end. Do this with all four pieces. For the bottom of the handbag the strip is 1x11 attached end to end with a strip that is 1x8.5.

For the handles you will need 2 pieces of cardstock 1x11 scored down the middle lengthwise stopping on each end at 1.5 inches. Apply adhesive down the middle until you come to the ends that are not scored. I used a corner punch to round off the ends and the tool from my envelope punch board to curl the handle once it has been glued down the middle.

To attach the handles to your bag use brads. I used the remaining pieces of DSP to make the tag. As you can see, the possibilities for making these handbags are endless. Have fun and message me if you have any questions.

New Catalog Ribbon Shares

With every new catalog that comes out I also offer my customers the opportunity to join a ribbon or DSP share. This option is great for getting a little bit of everything without having to pay the big bucks to get it all. Ribbon shares are split between 5 people. Each person will get 2 yards of each ribbon in the set or 1 yard of each ribbon from a 5 yard spool. You pay only for your share of the ribbon. This June I will be offering 4 different ribbon shares.

As per Stampin' Up! policy, I can not order the ribbon until all the spots in the share has been filled up. Please comment below or email me at girlfriend.originals@yahoo.ca if you would like to reserve your spot for a share. The cost to own all the ribbon in the new catalog would be well over $300. Sharing is the most economical way to get everything and you can always order more of your favorites. Payment by EMT or Paypal is required to reserve your share(s). I will ship anywhere in Canada. Cost of shipping is $1 per share.

Flower Pot Card

I recently had 2 classes where we made this card. I had asked all the girls to bring a pen and paper if this wanted to write down all the dimensions and instructions to make this card but then I decided to post this instead. Often for my classes I do not type out instructions as having taught classes for 3 years I've come to the realization that NO ONE LOOKS AT THEM!! They only look at the sample.

Here is a perfect card for Mother's Day (May 8) or birthday or get well etc. I used mostly the 2014-2016 In Colors (133681 cardstock). My card base is Tip Top Taupe (138336) and measures 3.5"x9". Score along the long edge at 3.5" and 7". I do all my cutting and scoring using my Stampin' Trimmer. Once you have scored your card base, do one mountain fold and one valley fold (it should look like a Z).

Use a border punch to punch the "shorter" side. I used a retired SU border punch one of the first items I ever purchased when I joined as a demo. Next you will need to cut a Flower Pot template. Light cardboard or a cereal box will work great. Start with a square that is 3.5"x3.5". Measure 1/2" on 2 corners (in the photo below it is the bottom of the template). Then you draw a line on both sides to the top corner and trim. Use scissors for this **NOT** your trimmer. Now lay the template on top of your flower pot card base and trim off the sides.

You do not need adhesive for your flower pot. Just tie a piece of ribbon or use some washi tape. I used both as you can see in the photo.

The inside piece Tip Top Taupe measures 2.5"x4.5" and the Whisper White is 2.25"x4.25".

Lay your inside piece on top of the envelope (this is a regular A2 sized envelope), when you are attaching your flowers so that you know the finished product will fit inside your envelope.

Don't forget to decorate your envelope.
